update.

As you all know, for our one year anniversary Curtis and I painted pottery. Well, we finally went to pick it up...and here's how it turned out!

Day 42

Getting stuck in a routine sort of sucks. Always going to the same places is boring, even for the most common things. For examples, always going to the same store for groceries or always buying the same jeans from the same place gets old after awhile. So we tried a new laundromat today. I haven't been happy at all with the old laundromat that I was going to. They upped their prices and turned the heat down on the dryers so it took longer and more money to get dry clothes. We ended going to a place that was much closer to where we live and I liked this place better. So it is true, change is good.

Day 41

Date night with my man! Let it be known, I finally kept a secret and surprised Curtis with an amazing date. I thought of this idea on Wednesday so it is sort of a miracle that I didn't tell Curtis anything until Friday and all I told him was we were going out.

We started by having dinner on the beach at South Beach Grille in Crescent Beach. Honestly, our meal wasn't that good. Curtis got shrimp fajitas because the waitress basically decided for him and my chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry. But it was still fun watching the ocean while we ate.

Then, we drove down to Boardwalk in Daytona Beach and walked around. Last summer, Curtis and I went to the arcade there and it was one of my most memorable dates so I wanted to try and recreate that. We headed to the arcade and spent about an hour there competing for the most tickets. Once we got to the prize counter, there really wasn't anything we wanted so Curtis got a bouncy ball and we gave the rest of our tickets to a little boy who didn't have enough tickets for the toy that he really wanted. I feel that karma will be happy with me for this considering we actually had a guy give us some tickets because he was leaving.

After that, we walked around and watched the street performers. There was one guy that was an escape artist who tied himself up in two straight jackets and a chain, hung upside down and escaped in less than four minutes. The next guy was a magician who actually had Curtis help out in the show. The last guy we watched was a juggler who juggled with sharp objects and fire. He picked me to help out in his show. So it was cool that we both got be in shows.

All in all, I had a lot of fun and I hope Curtis did too.

Day 40

Somehow, I managed to date Curtis for over a year and not play poker...but that ended tonight. We went to Heather's house to play poker and try some of her husband's awesome pizza. Even though, I was the first person out and I had really no idea what I was doing, I had fun. I'm going to make Curtis teach me how to play for real. Hopefully, next time I won't be the "annoying girl who doesn't know how to play." :)

Oh and by the way, Marc's pizza was delicious. He made a carnivore pizza with several different types of meats on it, and I really enjoyed it.

Day 39

Lunch with my big! I went to lunch with my big sister from Phi Alpha Omega. We wanted to try something new downtown and decided on Spy. Spy is the new sushi place downtown. I had heard from a few people that it was good and knew they had other options than just sushi so I thought it was perfect.

Turns out, they have way more options than sushi. In addition to a full sushi menu, they serve salads, wraps, and more. I got a grilled chicken caesar wrap and Stephanie got a caesar salad. It's kind of funny that neither of us ended up getting sushi but it's all good. We both enjoyed our meals so that is good.

Again, I would try it if you are in the St. Augustine area. Super delicious.

Day 38

Time for dinner! Last week, I bought corn on the cob since it is in season and it is, basically, the only veggie I like. I wanted to make them for dinner so I had to figure out how to cook them.

Once I read a few different ways online, I decided on steaming them in the microwave. It was the easiest and fastest way to cook them. I, also, had to figure out what to have with them and I settled on hamburgers.

I went to Winn-Dixie and bought the burgers that were pre-shaped. Since Curtis wanted me to cook, I had to figure out how to cook hamburgers too. I ended up pan cooking them, and I even managed to cook his to medium and mine to well done without any problems.

All in all, it was a successful dinner of hamburgers and corn on the cob. Yum!

(Sorry I forgot to take a picture.)

Day 37

Today at work I had to give a group tour. This was the first time I ever had given one so it was interesting to say the least.

The tour had about 50 people on it and they were all high schoolers. Their teacher had graduated from Flagler, which was the reason they were all there. All in all, the tour went alright. I think only about half of them even paid any attention to me, but that it okay. It was a new experience which is what having a job is all about, dealing with the unexpected.

Day 36

Today, my boss gave me a book with all the local restaurants in St. Auggie. I had been complaining about not being able to find affordable local food here. So, naturally, Curtis and I had to try one of them out tonight.

We ended up finally picking Casa Maria which is on Anastasia Island in the Publix Plaza. It was delicious. Hands down the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. And since it isn't located downtown the price was just right. If you are in the area, definitely try this place out.

In other news, we stopped by the Dollar Tree that was in the same plaza and I bought Krazy Straws. Life is complete.

Day 35

One of my Phi Alpha Omega sisters and I went to see Letters to Juliet. It was a cute chick flick. The story line was completely predictable but that doesn't really matter because it was a "feel good" movie. I was definitely recommend this one for a girl's night!

Day 34

My mom came up to visit me in St. Augustine and thanks to my great coupon cutting skills, I was able to snag ghost tours for 50% off. Ghost tours are one of the most popular tours in St. Augustine since we are reportedly the third most haunted city in America, therefore the tours are pricey and mostly draw only tourists. I have always wanted to go on one so finding the coupon was great.

On one nice Saturday night, Curtis, mom and I, along with 22 others, set out to hear some great stories and hopefully encounter some supernatural beings. Our tour guide, Andy, was a great story teller so he made all the "reported" encounters into great tales which would make even the biggest skeptic believe.

Here are some pictures from the tour:

Day 33

Robin Hood is a fantastic movie. The acting, the filming, the everything is just superb. Curtis and I went on opening night and had to sit up close but I think that made the movie better. It made it feel like we were apart of the movie. I love that it is completely set up for a sequel so now I just have to wait for that. :)

Day 32

Work has been fairly slow the last few days so we started something new.

The lady's at work and I cut coupons. I know that sounds silly but honestly, St. Augustine businesses offer really great deals to attract the locals and not just tourists, so why not take advantage of them! But really, it's kind of fun to be able to save money.

Plus, with the way my money is going...I need to save as much as possible.

Day 28-31

I am a slacker.

I'm sorry, won't happen again (hopefully).

Day 27

IRON MAN 2!

I went to see Iron Man, it's been a long time since I went to see a movie on opening night...I forgot how packed theaters get then. Even though we had to sit fairly close to the screen, Iron Man 2 is a great movie.

I never actually saw the first one all the way through so I was a little lost at first but the directing and filming of the movie kept me interested. The battle scenes are quite good.

Go see it, if you haven't!

Day 22-26

So I think I got sick from all the nature while canoeing. I completely slacked off because I was not feeling well at all. I even got sent home from work...

Until I get better.

Day 21

Today, I went canoeing with Curtis' family again. We tried a really difficult run, that just about kicked my butt. We went to Juniper Springs which is absolutely beautiful however the river was very narrow and curvy.

Luckily, I had my wonderful boyfriend guiding me through the run. Thanks, babe.

Day 20

Tonight, I went to see "Wizard of Oz" at West Orange High School. I had several friends in the show so I had to go see them because most of them are graduating. It was a very good show and, honestly, you would never know they were a high school troupe due to their levels of professionalism.

I am so happy I was able to see Kalyn and Justin perform in their last show at West Orange. I have worked with them a lot and it was great being able to sit back and watch them do what they love. Great jobs, guys!

Day 19

Happy one year to Curtis and I! Today was full of new things, the most important is this is the first time I have celebrated any type of anniversary with anyone and it is the most amazing thing. I am the happiest girl in the world.

For my present, Curtis treated me to Puddy Mud which is a place where you can paint your own pottery. I chose to paint a box that was in the shape of a cupcake. I hope it turns out well, we pick them up next week. Here's what it looked like before it went into the kiln.

Curtis made something too, but I can't say what it is...just in case.

After our trip to Puddy Mud, we went to the St. Augustine Lighthouse because Curtis had never been to the top of it. This was fun sharing something new with him.

All in all, it was an amazing day and I am incredibly lucky.

Day 18

So today I finished Curtis' present for our one year together. As you know, if you go back and check day 11 (I think it's day 11), you will see that I made him a cigar box for our anniversary. I wasn't pleased with leaving the top bare so I went to Hobby Lobby for ideas.

I ended up getting Mod Podge so I could glue on memories from our first year...here's how it turned out.

Day 17

Tonight, I went with Curtis to his friend's house to study for his midterms. Even though I have met Heather and Natane before...it was great hanging out with them. I enjoyed just sitting around and relaxing getting to know the new friends I have met. They really are great girls and I am stoked to hang out more.

I'm so excited for fondue night next week with them and others next week. We'll see how that goes because I haven't ever had fondue before....

Day 16

Peanut butter cookies! I was looking through some recipes online and realized I had all the ingredients to make cookies, so on a whim, I made them. The tasted delicious but they didn't keep their shape so they turned into giant cookies. Oh well, better luck next time.

The ingredients:
The batter:
Going into the oven:
The outcome.... oh well.
