Day 60

Tonight, we went to Heather's house and played poker again. I know that isn't really the new part but this time I actually placed bets and won hands. That is new! I wasn't the first one out this time either which was a little added bonus. I can't wait for the next time we get to have a poker night.

Day 59

Yesterday, I was freaking out about the apartments but I did what I thought was best, I sat down and figured out which apartment was more financially worth it. I have decided on Stratford Mills in St. Augustine. It's really a great apartment complex. I went out and met with the leasing consultant and I walked around again. At the end of the appointment, I signed an application so let's hope I get an apartment here.

Day 58

I have decided to move. My roommate and I are not getting along anymore and I need out. Today, I went looking for apartments. It's so hard deciding what it best. Some offer some deals and others have other deals and who really knows what I need? I have no idea! This is going to be a hard process...

Day 57

Tonight, Curtis and I went to Fly-by-Cafe. It's a restaurant at the St. Augustine airport. It's a small plane airport and the restaurant looks over the tarmac. You can sit and watch the planes take off and come in. It's really a neat concept. However, we got there about thirty minutes before they were closing so we got our meals to-go. I would really like to go back and have a chance to sit on the deck and watch the planes. It would be so cool.

Day 56

I love Kohl's. You can always find a good deal there. Today, I went and picked up several pieces and only spent around fifty dollars. That is always nice. Curtis was a little disappointed because men's clothing was not having any good deals and he had to spend more money. He didn't think that was very fair, but I didn't think anything of it. More for me, right?

Day 55

For my mom's birthday instead of spending a lot of money on something that was just material, I wanted to do something for her that would make a difference to her. I decided to enlist in the help of my dad and Curtis, together we cleaned up the yard.

I mowed the lawn and trimmed branches. We, even, took down the small deck my dad had built many years ago because it had started to fall apart. After only a few hours, we had the yard looking pretty nice and I hope it will stay like that...or else she will get a repeat gift next year. :)

7.07.2010

sorry...

Hello everyone,

So sorry I haven't been able to post lately due to my lack of internet. Since I moved I had to disconnect my internet and it hasn't been connected yet at my new place. However, it should be turned on today so be prepared for a massive upload of blog posts. Get excited, people.

6.18.2010

Day 54

A few days ago I started a book. It's called "Icing on the Cupcake" by Jennifer Ross. Today, I finished it. The book is actually really cute. It's about a girl who loses everything and moves to New York City to live with her grandmother, whom she had never met. The girl's life is turned upside down and she copes with it through baking. This is really a good read if you are looking for a light summer read.
Between each chapter, the author inserted the recipes that the girl made in the book. I think this is the coolest part of the book, honestly. I've made a goal to (eventually) make all the cupcakes in the book. Hopefully, I will actually do this but I need a few things before I get started. Anyone know where I can purchase a baking stone?

6.16.2010

Day 53

I SAVED A TURTLE'S LIFE!

Curtis had to pick me up from work today because my car battery was dead. Driving home, we saw a turtle in the middle of the road and Curtis stopped immediately to pick him up. He changed directions and headed towards a lake so he could be released into the wild. (I really wanted to keep him as a pet, honestly.)

Here are some pictures of us releasing him:
This is George the Turtle:

Day 52

Curtis' former roommate, along with his girlfriend, came to visit us in St. Augustine. We had a lovely time hanging out with them and showing them around the city. We went to the Conch House for dinner, which none of us had ever been to. The location was fabulous. The resturant it located on the intercoastal and has outdoor seating which is actually on docks over the water. The atmosphere is pretty relaxing and very interesting. The food was good too. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, seeing how there wasn't any leftovers.

After dinner, we went and hung out at their hotel. They stayed at the Hilton on the Bayfront which was very nice and we spent the evening swimming. It was great having them here, and I hope they come back and visit us real soon. :)

6.10.2010

Day 51

While Laurel and Esther were here last weekend, we went to the Vera Bradley store downtown and pick up a few things. I really wanted one of the wristlets but I didn't have money on me so I asked them to hold it for me.

I went to pick it up today and to my surprise, it was not 25% off because they were now running a sale of my particular pattern. Which I found weird because this pattern is one of the new ones for summer but I'm not going to argue with that.

Here is the wristlet that I bought:
P.S. Sorry, you didn't get the 25% off, Laurel. :(

Day 50

New season, new hair. Even though summer has not official started, in Florida it sure does feel like it has. Because of the hot weather and all, I decided to cut my hair short. Why? I don't know.

I really don't like my haircut all too much, hence why there is not a picture attached to this post but it's only hair and it will grow back. :)

Day 49

Instead of staying in St. Augustine on a busy, holiday weekend, I went back home to help my mom get ready for summer camp at her school. My mom works with the extended day program in elementary schools, however during the summer, they are opened all day as a "daycare". I only say daycare for lack of a better term. The kids in the camp, still have lessons and learn all kinds of stuff about whatever theme the program assigns. This year the theme is the ocean which is very cool.

Anyway, my mom needed some help with her lesson plans and the format so I decided to help her with all the knowledge I have from college and the education department. (Which, really she didn't need but still...) Helping her really was just a way for me to get more practice with daily schedules, routines and whatnot.

It was a cool way to spend the day...even if that makes me a total loser. :)

Day 48

Today, I went to the beach with Laurel and Esther since they were here visiting me. It was great to hang out with them like the old times and chat about allllll kinds of things. :) I love those girls so much and it is crazy that I don't see them really at all anymore. But it's okay, really, because we know that we are best friends and it doesn't matter how long it's been, it's like we were never apart.

P.S. We missed you, Keri!

Day 47

Tonight is the night! Laurel and Esther came up to visit in St. Augustine and we had a total girl's night. We went to see Sex and the City. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with the movie...it was a bit long and sort of, okay completely, silly. However, it was a good girl's night movie and the clothes and glitz were enough to keep me happy during the movie. :)

Day 46

Tonight, Curtis and I decided to try someplace new for dinner. We settled on trying out Tokyo Thai on Anastasia Island...

I was not impressed at all. I probably will not be going back there any time soon. Curtis got sushi which he liked but my chicken teriyaki was not anything that I want again. The actual chicken part of my meal was good but the rest of the meal left something to be desired. The salad that came with my meal was swimming in the dressing, which was not appetizing at all. After the salad, my chicken, rice and vegetables came to the table. I had asked for double rice, no vegetables but that didn't happen so that was my first disappointment. Then, the chicken was good but the rice was stale and the vegetables were limp, both didn't have any flavor, it was like my taste buds were confused and could not figure out if I liked the meal or not because of the unbalenced of the tastes.

I do not recommend on anyone trying this place, but if you do...I hope you catch them on a better night than I did.

Day 45

Missed another day...

Day 44

Today, Curtis decided to get a new tattoo. Instead of going to the regular place we were going to in St. Augustine, he went to his friend's parlor and had her do a tattoo that would be a portfolio piece for her book. He wanted something to do with being a chef since he is going to school for culinary arts and everything. She designed a cool tattoo with a whisk and a chef knife.

It was good to hang out in a new setting while he got his tattoo done. Her parlor is "The Lovely Pearl" on North San Marco, if anyone is interested. She does great work.

Here is a picture of Curtis' tattoo:

Day 43

Sorry guys, missed a day...

5.25.2010

update.

As you all know, for our one year anniversary Curtis and I painted pottery. Well, we finally went to pick it up...and here's how it turned out!

My cupcake box! I love it!
The inside.
The mug Curtis made for his mom for Mother's Day (She hasn't gotten it yet, obviously.)
The design he did on the handle

5.23.2010

Day 42

Getting stuck in a routine sort of sucks. Always going to the same places is boring, even for the most common things. For examples, always going to the same store for groceries or always buying the same jeans from the same place gets old after awhile. So we tried a new laundromat today. I haven't been happy at all with the old laundromat that I was going to. They upped their prices and turned the heat down on the dryers so it took longer and more money to get dry clothes. We ended going to a place that was much closer to where we live and I liked this place better. So it is true, change is good.

Day 41

Date night with my man! Let it be known, I finally kept a secret and surprised Curtis with an amazing date. I thought of this idea on Wednesday so it is sort of a miracle that I didn't tell Curtis anything until Friday and all I told him was we were going out.

We started by having dinner on the beach at South Beach Grille in Crescent Beach. Honestly, our meal wasn't that good. Curtis got shrimp fajitas because the waitress basically decided for him and my chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry. But it was still fun watching the ocean while we ate.

Then, we drove down to Boardwalk in Daytona Beach and walked around. Last summer, Curtis and I went to the arcade there and it was one of my most memorable dates so I wanted to try and recreate that. We headed to the arcade and spent about an hour there competing for the most tickets. Once we got to the prize counter, there really wasn't anything we wanted so Curtis got a bouncy ball and we gave the rest of our tickets to a little boy who didn't have enough tickets for the toy that he really wanted. I feel that karma will be happy with me for this considering we actually had a guy give us some tickets because he was leaving.

After that, we walked around and watched the street performers. There was one guy that was an escape artist who tied himself up in two straight jackets and a chain, hung upside down and escaped in less than four minutes. The next guy was a magician who actually had Curtis help out in the show. The last guy we watched was a juggler who juggled with sharp objects and fire. He picked me to help out in his show. So it was cool that we both got be in shows.

All in all, I had a lot of fun and I hope Curtis did too.

Day 40

Somehow, I managed to date Curtis for over a year and not play poker...but that ended tonight. We went to Heather's house to play poker and try some of her husband's awesome pizza. Even though, I was the first person out and I had really no idea what I was doing, I had fun. I'm going to make Curtis teach me how to play for real. Hopefully, next time I won't be the "annoying girl who doesn't know how to play." :)

Oh and by the way, Marc's pizza was delicious. He made a carnivore pizza with several different types of meats on it, and I really enjoyed it.

Day 39

Lunch with my big! I went to lunch with my big sister from Phi Alpha Omega. We wanted to try something new downtown and decided on Spy. Spy is the new sushi place downtown. I had heard from a few people that it was good and knew they had other options than just sushi so I thought it was perfect.

Turns out, they have way more options than sushi. In addition to a full sushi menu, they serve salads, wraps, and more. I got a grilled chicken caesar wrap and Stephanie got a caesar salad. It's kind of funny that neither of us ended up getting sushi but it's all good. We both enjoyed our meals so that is good.

Again, I would try it if you are in the St. Augustine area. Super delicious.

Day 38

Time for dinner! Last week, I bought corn on the cob since it is in season and it is, basically, the only veggie I like. I wanted to make them for dinner so I had to figure out how to cook them.

Once I read a few different ways online, I decided on steaming them in the microwave. It was the easiest and fastest way to cook them. I, also, had to figure out what to have with them and I settled on hamburgers.

I went to Winn-Dixie and bought the burgers that were pre-shaped. Since Curtis wanted me to cook, I had to figure out how to cook hamburgers too. I ended up pan cooking them, and I even managed to cook his to medium and mine to well done without any problems.

All in all, it was a successful dinner of hamburgers and corn on the cob. Yum!

(Sorry I forgot to take a picture.)

Day 37

Today at work I had to give a group tour. This was the first time I ever had given one so it was interesting to say the least.

The tour had about 50 people on it and they were all high schoolers. Their teacher had graduated from Flagler, which was the reason they were all there. All in all, the tour went alright. I think only about half of them even paid any attention to me, but that it okay. It was a new experience which is what having a job is all about, dealing with the unexpected.

Day 36

Today, my boss gave me a book with all the local restaurants in St. Auggie. I had been complaining about not being able to find affordable local food here. So, naturally, Curtis and I had to try one of them out tonight.

We ended up finally picking Casa Maria which is on Anastasia Island in the Publix Plaza. It was delicious. Hands down the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. And since it isn't located downtown the price was just right. If you are in the area, definitely try this place out.

In other news, we stopped by the Dollar Tree that was in the same plaza and I bought Krazy Straws. Life is complete.

Day 35

One of my Phi Alpha Omega sisters and I went to see Letters to Juliet. It was a cute chick flick. The story line was completely predictable but that doesn't really matter because it was a "feel good" movie. I was definitely recommend this one for a girl's night!

Day 34

My mom came up to visit me in St. Augustine and thanks to my great coupon cutting skills, I was able to snag ghost tours for 50% off. Ghost tours are one of the most popular tours in St. Augustine since we are reportedly the third most haunted city in America, therefore the tours are pricey and mostly draw only tourists. I have always wanted to go on one so finding the coupon was great.

On one nice Saturday night, Curtis, mom and I, along with 22 others, set out to hear some great stories and hopefully encounter some supernatural beings. Our tour guide, Andy, was a great story teller so he made all the "reported" encounters into great tales which would make even the biggest skeptic believe.

Here are some pictures from the tour:
Matanza Bay
Curtis leaning on the execution wall of the fort
Shadow picture on the wall of the fort
(we were hoping for some orbs.)

Day 33

Robin Hood is a fantastic movie. The acting, the filming, the everything is just superb. Curtis and I went on opening night and had to sit up close but I think that made the movie better. It made it feel like we were apart of the movie. I love that it is completely set up for a sequel so now I just have to wait for that. :)

5.19.2010

Day 32

Work has been fairly slow the last few days so we started something new.

The lady's at work and I cut coupons. I know that sounds silly but honestly, St. Augustine businesses offer really great deals to attract the locals and not just tourists, so why not take advantage of them! But really, it's kind of fun to be able to save money.

Plus, with the way my money is going...I need to save as much as possible.

Day 28-31

I am a slacker.

I'm sorry, won't happen again (hopefully).

Day 27

IRON MAN 2!

I went to see Iron Man, it's been a long time since I went to see a movie on opening night...I forgot how packed theaters get then. Even though we had to sit fairly close to the screen, Iron Man 2 is a great movie.

I never actually saw the first one all the way through so I was a little lost at first but the directing and filming of the movie kept me interested. The battle scenes are quite good.

Go see it, if you haven't!

Day 22-26

So I think I got sick from all the nature while canoeing. I completely slacked off because I was not feeling well at all. I even got sent home from work...

Until I get better.

Day 21

Today, I went canoeing with Curtis' family again. We tried a really difficult run, that just about kicked my butt. We went to Juniper Springs which is absolutely beautiful however the river was very narrow and curvy.

Luckily, I had my wonderful boyfriend guiding me through the run. Thanks, babe.

5.04.2010

Day 20

Tonight, I went to see "Wizard of Oz" at West Orange High School. I had several friends in the show so I had to go see them because most of them are graduating. It was a very good show and, honestly, you would never know they were a high school troupe due to their levels of professionalism.

I am so happy I was able to see Kalyn and Justin perform in their last show at West Orange. I have worked with them a lot and it was great being able to sit back and watch them do what they love. Great jobs, guys!

Hillary and I with Dorothy (Kalyn)

Day 19

Happy one year to Curtis and I! Today was full of new things, the most important is this is the first time I have celebrated any type of anniversary with anyone and it is the most amazing thing. I am the happiest girl in the world.

For my present, Curtis treated me to Puddy Mud which is a place where you can paint your own pottery. I chose to paint a box that was in the shape of a cupcake. I hope it turns out well, we pick them up next week. Here's what it looked like before it went into the kiln.

Curtis made something too, but I can't say what it is...just in case.

After our trip to Puddy Mud, we went to the St. Augustine Lighthouse because Curtis had never been to the top of it. This was fun sharing something new with him.

All in all, it was an amazing day and I am incredibly lucky.

Day 18

So today I finished Curtis' present for our one year together. As you know, if you go back and check day 11 (I think it's day 11), you will see that I made him a cigar box for our anniversary. I wasn't pleased with leaving the top bare so I went to Hobby Lobby for ideas.

I ended up getting Mod Podge so I could glue on memories from our first year...here's how it turned out.

Day 17

Tonight, I went with Curtis to his friend's house to study for his midterms. Even though I have met Heather and Natane before...it was great hanging out with them. I enjoyed just sitting around and relaxing getting to know the new friends I have met. They really are great girls and I am stoked to hang out more.

I'm so excited for fondue night next week with them and others next week. We'll see how that goes because I haven't ever had fondue before....

Day 16

Peanut butter cookies! I was looking through some recipes online and realized I had all the ingredients to make cookies, so on a whim, I made them. The tasted delicious but they didn't keep their shape so they turned into giant cookies. Oh well, better luck next time.

The ingredients:
The batter:
Going into the oven:
The outcome.... oh well.

4.26.2010

Day 15

Work is....kinda fun? I didn't know that my new job would be so interesting. I'm working at the same place I work during the school year, just full time. But I'm getting new responsibilities which are great. Today, I went out on tour twice. I hadn't ever given tours by myself so this was a new experience. As the tour guide, I show prospective students Flagler and tell them all about it. It's cool to meet the kids that are interested in Flagler and learn a little about them. Although it was hot and gross outside, I tried to stay positive and from the feedback everyone enjoyed the tours. I hope the students that I showed around today will like Flagler as much as I do and make it their home for the next few years.

Maybe the summer gig won't be so bad.

Day 14

I start work tomorrow. I am thankful for the summer work and the money I will be making but I was feeling a little down about the fact that I will be spending the majority of my summer working. But it's all okay because nothing cures "down-ness" like shopping.

I went to Old Navy today because I had a rewards card and I bought two new shirts. One is teal and the other it hot pink, I thought these were very appropriate spring/summer colors. Also, these colors reminded me of Hillary (don't get offended, it's a good thing) so I got them. I'm sort of sad that I won't be home to work summer camp and hanging out as much, but I am kind of thankful for the opportunity to move forward a little bit. Hopefully, these new clothes will help me remember the old times and carry that attitude into my new job. :)

4.24.2010

Day 13

Smiling, laughing, and making the waiter think you are completely insane. Tonight, I had dinner with one of my close friends, Maureen. Sadly, I don't get to see her as often as I would like (She lives in NY) but she is truly one of the people who can always make me laugh no matter what.

Maureen was in town briefly to visit family and I was lucky enough to be able to have dinner with her because I live so close to her family now. We ended up talking and laughing for over 3 hours but it didn't seem like it was that long. Dinner was amazing, our waiter didn't kill us and it was great making new memories.

Never underestimate the power of memories, you make them everyday and I am glad that I started this blog to remind me of all the memories I am making through my year of adventures. Looking back, I am thankful for Hillary's blogs of quotes and Ashley W.'s mad picture taking skills. Making our memories over the last few years become part of us forever, because now we can't forget them even if we wanted to. Thank you girls and thank you, Maureen for the night of great memories for looking back upon. Open up the pit of hell. :)

Fresh Banana Cream Cheesecake. YUM!
My coke on the rocks, thanks to our waiter!
PIT OF HELL!
Whose menu has 21 pages, really?

4.23.2010

Day 12

Tonight I went to see a new movie. The movie was Kick-Ass, which for lack of a better word, was kick ass. It was great!

The movie, honestly, had way more plot and twists and turns than I thought it would. It was way better than the "average kid becomes a hero" movie that the trailers alluded to. So if you get a chance to go see it, I would advise you too. It's pretty darn hilarious.

Day 11

Ok guys, I can't post what I did today yet. Update will happen after next Friday. :)

Update:

I couldn't post because my new thing for today was making Curtis' present for our anniversary. I decided to make him a cigar box. I went to Hobby Lobby for all of the materials.

I started with a bare box, paint, felt and brushes. I painted the box with dark brown paint and then lined the box with the dark green felt.

Here's the finished box...until I added the stuff to the top on day 18

Day 10

Finals week is almost over! I had to study a lot for my exam that is tomorrow morning so I decided to get out of the house and study in front of the gorgeous fort here in St. Auggie. So my new thing is today is taking time to do a usual thing in a new place. My example of this is studying at the fort.

I went out to the fort and laid in the grass with my roommate, Mariah, (she has the same class as me) and study in the nice sunshine.

Here was my view while studying:

I hope the relaxing studying I had shows on my exam. Wish me luck!

4.21.2010

Day 9

So tonight, I was getting frustrated with the way my room was set up. I hated the fact that it looked like a dorm room still, even though I have my own apartment. I decided to move some things around and redecorate but since I am on a budget...I only bought a couple of new things for my room.

I got a side table to go beside my bed and a new jewelry box. The box I had to put together and since I have not put something like this together before, it's my new thing for today!

Here is a picture of it about half way through:

And here it is completed:

It looks so nice in my room, especially on my new table :)

More to come...

(I may have gotten carried away with the colors today...)

4.20.2010

Day 8

Okay, I admit it. I'm slipping. I didn't do anything new today but I didn't really leave my house either because of all the studying that I am doing. I have four finals tomorrow.... I will make it up on tomorrow by doing two things. Hopefully, I won't make a trend of this. Actually, no I won't let myself.

Until tomorrow.

4.19.2010

update

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry that I am not posting everyday but finals have me swamped. I promise I am still doing a new thing everyday and once finals allow me to breathe a little, I will post everything. (I am also waiting on a few pictures...) Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. See you once I am officially on summer break!

-P

4.18.2010

Day 7

This morning/afternoon, I went canoeing with Curtis' family. This was a great new thing for me because I had never been. I didn't really know what to expect but I never thought it would have been as relaxing as it was. It was great...minus the rain. It happened to rain the entire time we were out on the water, but it wasn't scary rain so I was okay with it. It was great to be outdoors and trying something new.

I really think that canoeing will be a new hobby of mine because of the calmness that it brought, minus the sibling fighting. :) Curtis and I are already trying to plan another trip because I would like to go out when it's not raining. I think we might try a new run, too! I'll keep you updated...

P.S. I'll add some pictures once Curtis' mom adds them on facebook.

4.17.2010

Day 6

I'm so excited!!!! As some of you know, I have wanted a Polaroid camera for a very long time. I don't know why I have really wanted one but I have.

Well..... I am now the proud owner of a new (to me) POLAROID CAMERA! It is so wonderful. I went to the Habitat for Humanity Lake- Sumter Thrift Store today to look around. I was surprised that they had so many good, cheap, slightly used goods. I didn't even know about this place until today but it going to be a new place to shop for any type of furniture. Basically, all of the stuff that is there has come out of The Villages so it has some really nice stuff.

My dad and I were about to leave when we saw a table right by the door and stop to look at the stuff on it. That is when I saw my new baby. It was sitting there with film and everything, it was such a good find.

I'm excited to start taking pictures with it because the pictures will be fun wall decorations for my room. All I have to do now is try to find film for it, but I heard a rumor that I can get in online still. But that's okay....I'm happy.

Day 5

Tonight, I did one of my favorite things...went to the theatre. You might be asking (if you know me), how is this something new? Well, I might be stretching it a little, but I saw a new play. One that I have never seen before and knew nothing about walking into the theatre. (Sidebar: spell check is telling that theatre is spelled incorrectly and that bugs me.)

COME BLOW YOUR HORN
The play was "Come Blow Your Horn" by Neil Simon. Personally, I didn't really care for the script and I think that is because I don't like comedies all that much. I don't find anything written in the 60's to be funny now or covert really well to modern times. I guess I that's something that I lack. However, script aside, the cast was awesome. Every part was really cast well, and the actors did not disappoint. Kudos to Austin Travis especially, because I have seen him grow as a actor so much and he has great natural timing for comedy. Also, Jim and Paula were great in their roles, so hilarious. Everyone in the audience loves their characters but really there is no way you couldn't. Very funny! Debbie and Rick were awesome as usual, both of them are very versatile in the roles they play and it is great watching them be so wonderful on the stage.

By the way, if you are in the Eustis/ Lake County area, go see this show. For reservations... Call Bay Street Players @ 352.357.7777 (shameless plug).

After the show, we went to the "wine and cheese" gala. It was great to hang out with friends that I don't see very often. While we were there Curtis made me try a pickled asparagus. It was gross...but now I know that I don't ever want to eat that again. So lesson learned.

4.15.2010

Day 4

Today was all about finding new happiness in the world around you. It was my last day of classes and I had to walk back and forth to school because Curtis had classes all day. Normally, I have Curtis drive me back to school or pick me up once a day. I know this is lazy considering I live within walking distance of the school, but I don't really like walking back and forth because I find it boring. Being "forced" to walk, I found a new admiration for the wonderful town I live in.

Walking down the sidewalk listening to my iPod, I found a simple joy in life that is indescribable. The sunshine and the presence of the happy groups of people made me aware of the aura this town has. It was one of the most pleasant walks I have had in a long time. I can't wait to go out and take in more of this amazing city more during the summer. It's just the most exciting atmosphere. I am truly happy I live here.

I hope to be able to go out and experience this happiness more. I guess I will just have to walk more... :)

4.14.2010

Day 3

Today's goal was to make new things in the kitchen. I decided to make dinner for Curtis and I by making foods that I have had before but have not cooked before. For dinner, we had chicken strips (I've made these before...) and for the sides I made loaded potato skins. Even though the sides took over as main course because we didn't have enough chicken strips. These were a challenge. I found the recipe online (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/loaded-potato-skins/Detail.aspx) and got to work. They really weren't too hard to make, but they did take a lot of time, and I really liked them. So I would definitely recommend this recipe to all of you.

For dessert, I made banana crumb muffins. I found that recipe online (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Banana-Crumb-Muffins/Detail.aspx) and it was really simple to make. They smelled great while they were baking but once I checked on them I could tell I had overfilled the muffin rounds a little too high so the muffin puffed over the top. However, the looks don't really matter when something tastes so great. I highly recommend this recipe too.

Here are some pictures of the food:

Thank you to Curtis for chopping up the green onions because I cut my finger...and for making the salads!

As you can tell, I have had a lot of food updates and this is because I have worked or had school everyday so far and foods are the easiest ways of trying new things after a long day. I promise I won't bore you with all food blogs so tomorrow I will do something other than food.

Until next time....

Day 2

So today I went to dinner with the Busy Bee family from Phi Alpha Omega! It was super fun and to commemorate the last dinner we had, I decided to make a cake. (That's not the new part.) I decided to have Curtis help me and we made fondant for the cake. We decorated it with fondant and I piped on the bee because we are the BUSY BEE FAMILY!

Here are some pictures of the experience:

Day 1

Since this is the week before finals, I didn't have too much time to go out and try something new. Therefore, I looked within my apartment for something new to try. I was looking around the kitchen for something for dinner and decided this would be a perfect time to accomplish today's new thing...only problem, since I buy the groceries, I eat basically all the food in my apartment. That's when I remembered I had Jambalaya (because I bought if for Curtis, who still hadn't eaten it)...which I have never tried.

So for Day 1, I ate Jambalaya. Curtis decided to make it a little different from the directions on the box. Instead of water, we used chicken broth and heated the sausage with onions before adding it all to the pot and having it simmer for 25 minutes.

Once everything was finished cooking, it was the moment of truth. To my surprise, I like Jambalaya. Even with it being spicy! Who would have thought that? See good things can come from trying something new.

We will see what tomorrow brings...

I'm going to give this a shot...

Lately, I have been doing a lot of thinking. I have never been one who wants to settle. I want to live life to the fullest and do what I want, when I want. The only problem is...I haven't been doing this.

Therefore, I am starting a resolution... I know it isn't New Year's but why wait. Who says you can't decide to make changes to your life during the year, or whenever you want to. So here it is:

I am going to try something new everyday for the next year. That's right. 365 days of new adventures.

Now, this means try something new or make something new or go somewhere new. It is not limited to anything. One day I might try a new food and the next I might volunteer someplace new. I want to discover everything and anything possible. So, this is my way of making sure I complete my task. I am going to post my new ventures on my blog and let everyone know of my new findings. I won't bore you with it every day but I will try to post everyday and then link it to Facebook about once a week. However, feel free to check up on me when ever you want.

So until tomorrow...the beginning of a new life...
